Fork Swap for Rattan LM Ultra

My trusty Rattan folding ebike has over 800 miles on it and I have already replaced a number of touch points to make it better. It has new tires, new brake system, suspension seatpost, new grips and folding pedals too.

Now its time to fix its biggest problem, the front fork. It bottoms out constantly on the smallest bumps so I boulght a new RST Guide fork on Amazon and brought it to my ebike buddies house for the install.

It didn’t go quite as planned but we got it done. Here are the parts required;

Fork: https://amzn.to/4taLQ0Q

Headset/Starnut: https://amzn.to/49OJGfM

Fender Brackets: https://amzn.to/4k6j4Ku

After buying the fork I had to get the star nut to place inside the tube and a new headset with a crownrace and bottom bearings that would fit. We re-used the top headset pieces and cut the tube to match the old one.

After that I had to get a different bracket to mount the hydraulic brake calipers that I had recenty installed and then realized I would need to order some fender brackets because the ones on the fork are vertical vs side mounted on the old one.

All told, it cost me about $150 bucks to get the parts. My friend already had a pipe cutter so he helped cut the top tube down to size.
