Most cargo e-bikes prioritize utility over style, but the Hello Keep CD20 definitely breaks that mold. Priced around $1,499, this machine immediately caught my eye with its rare aesthetic: bold color options (sage green or cobalt blue) paired with striking white mag rims and even a matching white battery pack. It looks sharp, rides punchy, and packs serious battery capacity for the price.
Here is my breakdown of how it performed during my first ride and testing. Buy the Helokeep Here.
Key Specs at a Glance
- Motor: 1,000W rear hub motor (peaks at 1,500W, 110 Nm torque)
- Battery Setup: Dual-battery system totaling 33.1 Ah (1,588 Wh) — one 15.6 Ah and one 17.5 Ah pack
- Top Speed: Claimed 33 mph (clocked ~30–33 mph during my runs)
- Tires: 20″ x 4″ knobby tires on white mag wheels
- Brakes: Logan hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors
- Weight & Payload: 103 lbs total weight; impressive 550 lb payload capacity
- Cockpit & Security: Tall BMX-style handlebars, full twist throttle, basic digital display, and NFC key unlock
The Ride & Performance
- Power & Acceleration: The 110 Nm of torque gives it an immediate, punchy launch off the line. The full twist throttle delivers power smoothly without any jerky starts.
- Hill Climbing: On my standard hill test, it powered up at a solid 11–12 mph. On my steep 15% grade monster hill, it pushed through throttle-only around 7–9 mph, easily handling the incline without bogging down.
- Speed Runs: Using the throttle on flat ground, my GPS recorded around 30 mph, while the bike’s display read up to 32–33 mph.
- Comfort & Fit: At 6-foot tall, I found the ergonomics surprisingly dialed. The extra-tall, 10-inch BMX handlebars offer adjustable reach, and the suspension seat post paired with the front dual-crown fork smooths out rough patches well.
What I Like
- Unbeatable Style & Visibility: The white wheels and contrasting accents make this bike turn heads, which is a major safety plus when sharing the road.
- Dual-Battery Capacity: Having over 1,500 Wh of juice for under $1,500 is rare. While the claimed 150-mile range is unrealistic, expecting 30+ miles on aggressive throttle or 50–60 miles on lighter assist is a very practical range for urban cruising or cargo duties.
- Cargo Readiness: Between the 550 lb payload rating, the rear wooden platform, and sturdy build, it is primed for heavy hauling and courier delivery work.
The Drawbacks & Quirks
- Strange Pedal-Assist Limiter: Pedaling in PAS levels 1, 2, or 3 capped out at only 15 mph without giving additional motor support, even though the bike hits 30+ mph on throttle alone. You essentially have to use the twist throttle to reach higher speeds.
- Basic Drivetrain: It runs a modest Shimano SIS 7-speed setup (14–28T freewheel) with an entry-level chainring, meaning high-speed pedaling easily spins out.
- App Connectivity: I couldn’t get the companion app to pair or display a Bluetooth/QR connection via the screen.
- Braking Leverage: The Logan hydraulic brakes stop decently out of the box, but on a 100+ lb cargo bike carrying heavy loads, upgrading to 203 mm front rotors would provide better stopping power.
For $1,499, the Hello Keep CD20 offers strong value, serious hill-climbing power, and an eye-catching design you won’t find on standard utility e-bikes. As long as you don’t mind leaning on the throttle over pedaling, it makes for a capable commuter, runabout, or delivery rig.
