The Aventure 3 is Built for Adventure

The Aventure 3 from Aventon is a mixture of high tech and off road capability. It’s a very refined ebike whuch I have come to expect from the team at Aventon. I tested it recently for the channel.

⚡ Motor & Power System

  • Motor Type: 36V Rear Hub Drive
  • Nominal Power: 750W
  • Peak Power: Up to 1440W when utilizing the bike’s dedicated Boost Mode
  • Torque: 80 Nm (Newton-meters), giving it plenty of low-end grunt for hills and rough terrain
  • Pedal Assist Sensor: Double-Sided Bottom Bracket Torque Sensor (this measures how hard you are actually pushing the pedals to deliver smooth, natural feeling power rather than just measuring how fast the pedals are spinning)

🔋 Battery & Range

  • Capacity: 36V, 20Ah (733Wh)
  • Cells: High-quality LG 21700 cells
  • Design: Removable internal lithium-ion battery, seamlessly integrated into the down tube
  • Charger & Charge Time: 4A fast charger (42V output) that can charge the battery from 0% to 100% in about 5 hours
  • Range: Up to 65 miles on a single charge (tested on flat terrain in Pedal Assist Level 1 with a 160 lb rider)
  • Safety Certification: Fully certified to UL 2271 standards

🛞 Tires & Brakes

  • Tires: Inova 26″ x 4.0″ fat tires. These are puncture-resistant and designed for all-terrain stability (snow, sand, dirt, and pavement).
  • Brakes: Tektro HD-E3520 hydraulic disc brakes.
  • Rotors: 180mm 6-bolt rotors on both the front and rear wheels.
  • Special Brake Feature: Equipped with an EJ1 quick-disconnect wire that acts as a motor cutoff—the moment you squeeze the brake levers, the motor instantly stops pushing power.

⚙️ Gearing & Drivetrain

  • Rear Derailleur: Shimano Altus 8-Speed
  • Shifter: Shimano 8-Speed Trigger Shifter
  • Cassette: Shimano CS-HG200-8, 12-32T range
  • Chainring: 48T paired with a 170mm 3-piece crankset

📐 Sizing & Geometry

The Step-Through frame is offered in two sizes to accommodate a wide variety of riders:

  • Regular (RG): Fits riders 4’11” to 5’7″ (Optimized for inseams between 24″ and 29″)
  • Large (LG): Fits riders 5’7″ to 6’1″ (Optimized for inseams between 29″ and 33″)
  • Total Bike Weight: 77 lbs
  • Max Payload Capacity: 400 lbs total weight limit

💡 Lighting

  • Integration: Both the front headlight and rear taillights are fully integrated into the ebike’s main electrical system, running straight off the primary battery so you never have to charge them separately.

🚲 Front Suspension

  • Fork: Aventon/Zoom suspension fork
  • Travel: 80mm of travel to absorb bumps, roots, and potholes
  • Controls: Includes a lockout feature, allowing you to stiffen the fork when riding on flat pavement to maximize pedaling efficiency.
  • Bonus Comfort: The bike also comes spec’d with an Aventon suspension seatpost offering an additional 50mm of travel directly beneath the saddle.

🛡️ ACU Unit (Security & Anti-Theft)

The Aventure.3 features Aventon’s advanced central control module (ACU) which brings modern smart-car security and tracking features to the ebike via the Aventon smartphone app:

  • Cellular Connectivity: Built-in 4G cellular connection capability.
  • Location Tracking: Integrated GPS chip allowing you to locate and track your bike in real-time.
  • Theft Deterrence: Remote security monitoring features that alert you if the bike is moved or tampered with when parked.

My only complaint might be the battery size. A lot of 26×4 ebikes now come with 48V 15AH or even 20AH. But if you are only a casual rider the Aventon 3 is a good choice.
