Eight Ways to Improve the Lectric XP4 E-Bike

I’ve got some thoughts on how the Lectric XP4 could be even better, specifically looking ahead to what a Lectric XP5 might offer. Here are eight ways I think they could really step up their game:

1. Better Mounting Points

Those mounting points on the seat post, especially on the step-over version, are a pain to get to. I think Lectric should just get rid of those bosses and leave a blank space. That way, we could use a pocket sleeve accessory and get a lot more storage without any hassle.

2. A Truly Removable Display

The current display pops off, which is cool, but it’s still tethered by wires. I’d love to see a completely wireless, removable display, kind of like what Mock Wheel offers. Imagine being able to just grab it and go – way more portable and convenient.

3. Apple Find My Integration

This one’s a big wish: built-in Apple Find My technology. It would be amazing for tracking the bike. No more needing to buy and attach separate AirTags; it would just be part of the bike itself.

4. Consistent Color Schemes

Why can’t all the color options be available for both the step-through and step-over models? It’s a minor thing, but it would give us so much more choice if specific colors weren’t restricted to certain frame styles.

5. Fix the Rattling!

There’s this annoying rattling sound, usually from the battery or controller inside the frame. It seems like it could be a pretty easy fix with some extra foam padding to keep things snug. It’s a small detail, but it really makes a difference in the ride quality.

6. Improved Fork Travel

The current fork only has 35mm of travel, which is pretty minimal. You can feel it bottom out pretty easily. I’d love to see that increased to 50-60mm. It would make for a much smoother ride, especially on rougher roads.

7. A Better Throttle Design

I’m not a huge fan of the current left-side thumb throttle. Its design and placement just aren’t ideal. I’d prefer a flatter thumb throttle or even a skinnier finger throttle. Anything that feels more ergonomic and makes for a more enjoyable ride.

8. Swappable Cadence and Torque Sensors

This is probably my biggest desire. The ability to switch between cadence and torque sensors would be a game-changer. Sometimes you want an easier, more assisted ride (cadence), and other times you want more of a workout (torque). Some e-bikes, like the Bellatrix, already offer this, and it would give riders so much more control over their riding experience.
