The Segway Myon blends a futuristic commuter design with a heavy tech stack, but dialing it in for daily riding takes a few tweaks. Here is a breakdown of the best practical comfort upgrades, real-world battery performance, and the step-by-step fix to get turn-by-turn directions onto the dashboard display.
Everyday Comfort & Utility Upgrades
Because of the Myon’s integrated handlebar design, bar-end accessories aren’t an option. A few clamped add-ons drastically improve comfort and rideability:
- Cockpit Clamps: A Joyroom phone mount on the right side and a clamp-on Kemimoto cup holder fit securely without interfering with controls.
- Mirrors: Clamp-style mirrors (such as Meachow) match the angular, modern styling while offering wide visibility on both sides.
- Suntour SP12 NCX Suspension Seatpost: Paired with the stock saddle, this single upgrade eliminated fatigue on extended 28-mile trips, taking the sting out of rough roads.
- Storage: A repurposed Rhinowalk rear rack bag adds quick-access cargo space on the rear frame.
Real-World Range Test: 50 Miles in PAS 3
Segway advertises an 80-mile maximum range, but that number relies on minimum pedal assist, flat pavement, and ideal conditions.
- Rider Weight: ~180 lbs
- Total Bike Weight (with gear): ~82 lbs
- Assist Level: PAS 3 (mid-level assist)
- Day 1: 28 miles ridden, finishing with 56% battery remaining.
- Day 2: Another 22 miles completed without recharging.
Verdict: Achieving 50 real-world miles in PAS 3 is an impressive outcome for a sub-$2,000 class commuter, aided by the bike’s low rolling resistance and narrow commuter tires.
How to Fix Segway Myon Navigation
If you can see maps in the Segway app but turn-by-turn directions never appear on the bike’s screen, the bike’s hardware isn’t the problem—the navigation shortcut simply isn’t assigned in the app interface.
1.Enable Phone Permissions:Ensure Bluetooth is active and grant the Segway Mobility app Precise Location and map permissions in your phone’s OS settings.
2.Add Navigation to Shortcut Functions:In the Segway app, go to More Functions -> Shortcut Function Definition. Tap and hold the Navigation module and drag it into the top active dashboard box.
3.Power Cycle & Reconnect:Turn the bike off and restart the Segway mobile app. Once reopened, let the AirLock or Bluetooth connection re-establish so the navigation button is no longer grayed out.
4.Set Route & Cast to Display:Accept the mapping terms, input your destination, and toggle Display Navigation on Dashboard. The TFT display will show distance readouts, turn prompts, and speed metrics accompanied by audio cue chimes.
With the navigation shortcut mapped and the suspension post installed, the Myon delivers on all its promised smart commuter tech.
