When comparing the Mokwheel Obsidian and the Lectric XPeak, you are essentially looking at a choice between a high-powered, full-suspension “beast” and a value-driven, trail-ready “utility” bike.
The Mokwheel Obsidian is positioned as a premium, all-terrain powerhouse, while the Lectric XPeak (specifically the 2.0 version) is arguably the best-value fat tire ebike on the market for those who want brand reliability without the $2,000+ price tag.

Key Differentiators
1. Ride Comfort: Full vs. Front Suspension
The biggest physical difference is the frame. The Obsidian features a rear air shock in addition to the front fork, making it much more capable of “floating” over rocky trails and roots. The XPeak relies on a high-quality RST Renegade front fork and fat tires to soak up bumps, but your back will feel more of the terrain than on the Obsidian.
2. Power and Torque
The Obsidian is a torque monster. With 105 Nm of torque and a 1000W nominal motor, it is designed for riders who need to conquer very steep inclines or heavy mud/sand. The XPeak is no slouch (85 Nm), but it feels more like a traditional (albeit powerful) bicycle, whereas the Obsidian can feel closer to a light electric motorcycle in its acceleration.
3. Battery and Range Options
- Mokwheel: Comes with a beefy 941Wh battery. One unique selling point is its “Power Station” capability—you can use a Mokwheel inverter to run appliances off the bike battery or charge it via solar panels.
- Lectric: Offers a “Long-Range” version (up to 960Wh) for about $1,699. Lectric’s ecosystem is more focused on traditional utility, like heavy-duty racks and passenger kits.
4. Safety and Certification
Lectric puts a heavy emphasis on their e-MTB safety certification, meaning the bike has been rigorously tested for frame and component stress beyond standard city ebikes. While Mokwheel is well-built, Lectric is often preferred by those who prioritize industry-standard safety testing.
Price Comparison
- Lectric XPeak: Starts at $1,499. Even the long-range version is significantly cheaper than the Obsidian.
- Mokwheel Obsidian: Generally retails for $2,199 (on sale) to $2,399. You are paying a ~$700 premium for the extra rear suspension, the 1000W motor, and the solar-ready tech.
Which should you choose?
- Choose the Mokwheel Obsidian if you have a higher budget and want maximum comfort on rough off-road trails, or if the idea of solar charging and using your bike as a power backup appeals to you.
- Choose the Lectric XPeak if you want the best “bang for your buck.” It is a rugged, highly capable trail bike that handles 90% of what most riders need for nearly $1,000 less than the Obsidian’s MSRP.
These two ebikes are my favorite off road fat tire ebikes I have tested to date. You can’t go wrong with either one but if budget is an issue the 20AH Xpeak would be my choice.
