Looking to sell your ebike on the Facebook Marketplace? Well there are some do’s and don’ts you should be aware of. In my latest video I reveal them all.
- Take High-Quality Photos: Use good lighting and capture multiple angles, including close-ups of key features like the battery, display, and motor. Add a portrait style video video too. Up to 10 photos.
- Listing Title: lead with the most important specs…Make it something like this: “Folding 500 Watt Ebike | 14AH battery | 28 MPH”
- Write a Detailed Description: Highlight the ebike’s brand, model, year, mileage, and any upgrades or accessories. Be honest about its condition and any issues. Explain upfront why you are selling.
- Set a Competitive Price: Research similar ebikes in your area to determine a fair market value. You can adjust the price based on the ebike’s condition and features.I generally list my ebikes at sound 75% of the purchase price. My aim is to get at least 50% of the price of its retail price. The more sought after the ebike the higher you can get so keep that in mind. Most ebikes on Facebook are the cheap amazon ones so keep in mind its filled with low priced ebikes.
- Avoid Scams—watch out for people who message you as soon as youpost it and ask for a phone number or who tell you their “husband” will call you to get details. Its a scam.
- Meet in a Public Place: Choose a well-lit, public location with surveillance cameras for the exchange. Avoid meeting at your home or the buyer’s home.
- Use Cash or Secure Payment Methods: Avoid accepting checks or money orders, which can be fraudulent. Consider using a secure online payment platform like PayPal or Venmo.
- Be Patient: It may take time to find the right buyer. Don’t get discouraged if your ebike doesn’t sell immediately. Mine sell between 1-2 weeks during the and more like 2-4 weeks off season.
- Promote Your Listing: Share your ebike listing on any local tag sale or ebike groups to reach a wider audience.
- When to list: I recommend listing your item for sale on Fridays since most people work during the week and get paid at end of week. Be sure to “relist” every 7 days as you are allowed. Doing so will bump it up to top of listings again.
