Ride with Me Along Florida’s A1A Beach Route in Fort Lauderdale

Cruising the Atlantic Coast: A Solo Florida E-Bike Ride

On his final day in Florida, I took a break from the action to embark on a relaxed, solo ride. With no specific agenda or heavy gear, the goal was simple: hit the road for a few hours, soak in the sights, and see where the path led.

Navigating the Streets of Fort Lauderdale

The journey kicked off in the Fort Lauderdale area, where the local roads felt less like typical city streets and more like massive highways. Navigating the busy traffic required sharp attention, but the rider successfully found his way to a dedicated bike lane leading toward the coast along Route A1A.

A major highlight of the early ride was crossing a massive drawbridge that offered views stretching all the way to the clouds. The ride came to a brief halt when the bridge went up to let a sailboat pass through, giving a perfect opportunity to admire the cruise ships docked in the distance. Once the bridge lowered and traffic cleared, it was a straight shot to the ocean.

Sun, Sand, and Speed

Riding north on A1A brought gorgeous views of the water as the route wound through a public beach entrance and headed toward Central Beach. Along the way, the e-bike showcased its impressive performance capabilities, cleanly hitting a top speed of 36 mph.

Delays and Discoveries on the Way Back

The return trip toward Dania Beach brought a couple of unexpected stops, but they only added to the adventure. The rider found himself temporarily blocked by an incredibly long freight train.

While waiting for the tracks to clear, he spotted a massive, unique tree nearby. Measuring a staggering 10 feet across at its base, the trunk resembled the foot of an elephant, making it one of the thickest and most unusual trees he had ever encountered.

The Wrap-Up: After three packed days of testing out the Alpha Mini and exploring the area, this solo coastal cruise was the perfect way to wrap up a great Florida trip. Have you ever taken an e-bike out for a long coastal ride?
