Velotric launched three new ebikes last year and this they more more coming. First up in 2025 is the new Nomad 2, an update to its 26×4 rugged trail rider.

The Nomad 2 comes in two frame sizes and boats a whopping 505 lb payload capacity despite weighing only 75 lbs. It comes as a step over and step thru versions which is the one I got in Olive color.

Priced at $1,999 it comes in several colors including sage green, midnight blue, cranberry and slate. The regular frame fits riders 5″2 to 5″11 while the larger frame is for 5″10 to 6″5.

Power comes from a rear hub 750 watt motor that launched with last years new models. I achieved an impressive 31mph on my first speed run. Speed setting can be adjusted in the mobile app. Class 2 or 3 can be changed easily.

The UL Certified battery is their standard 48V 14.7 AH features Samsung/LG 21700 cells and comes with a fast 3 amp charger. It is water proof rated to IPX6 specs. I will range test it sometime this spring.

Riders can switch from torque (default) to cadence sensor from within the app which is a nice feature to have. As far as gearing you get 8 speeds, 48T chainring, large 11-40T cassette and a Shimano Acera derailleur.

Tektro hydraulic brakes come standard with 203mm rotor up front, 180 in the rear to help stop the Kenda 26X4 puncture resistant tires. The Nomad 2 also features a solid suspension seatpost to help suck up those bumps. And the saddle is large and cushy.
