Actbest Core City Commuter Ebike is Low Priced & Lightweight

Actbest, a direct to consumer Chinese ebike company sent me one of their budget ebikes to try recently. At a cost of just $799 I was skeptical at first, but after riding it for almost 25 miles I’d say it’s a good value for what you get.

It features a 500 watt rear hub motor paired with a 36 volt 13 amp hour battery that sits flush in the down tube. This step thru ebike even has decent front suspension for those of you who live on streets with potholes.

Step thru ebike review

Tires are by CST and are 26×1.75 with a street tread. The rear rack has a clamp and bungee holders and the bike has both front and rear lighting. The rear also acts as a brake light.

It also features mechanical disk brakes, seven speeds, a bright LCD display and can reach a top speed of 22 MPH. Very respectable for an ebike in this price range.

The biggest negative with the Core City however is the ghost pedaling that occurs in the higher PAS settings. I was spinning my legs a lot because of that small chainring. But it does feature a throttle too in case you want to avoid that.

The Actbest Core City Commuter comes with a one year warranty.
