E-bikes are getting less costly and that is good news for consumers. The number of ebikes you can now get for $999 is growing by leaps and bounds. A quick search on Amazon shows dozens of them.
My latest budget ebike in the shop is the Andsky Explorer 300. This is a budget folding ebike available today on Amazon for just $749 (on sale) that comes with 20 inch fat tires and a 500 watt motor.

Class 2 – 20 mph though you can unlock it to 26 MPH. It also comes with a rear rack and front suspension fork.
What I Like
The mag wheel rims and fat tire give it a tough look. At $749 you get a sizable battery with decent range. It also features a brake light with turn signals.
What I Don’t
The brakes are soft and could use tightening. Parts are low end.
