One question I get a lot…will bike shops work on my ebike? The short answer is, it depends…
Is it a mechanical problem or electrical?
If you have a mechanical problem such as brakes, tires or gearing your local bike shop should be able to repair that. But be sure to take off the battery BEFORE you bring it there. At that point its just a bicycle.
If its an electrical problem you are much less likely to find someone to fix it. There are ebikes shops popping up across the country but they are few and far between at this point. ANd they may or may not want to work with your brand of ebike.
If you are handy you can replace electrical things on ebikes like displays, throttles and cadence sensors with parts you can buy on amazon. Many things on an ebike are plug and play.
Educate yourself on places like Facebook groups and Reddit, An ebike is essentially made up of a motor, controller and display that simply plug in to each other.
If you are concerned about buying an ebike and having it repaired one day buy from one of the bigger brands or buy from a local shop that sells them. If you buy local, they will fix it if breaks.
